Complete set of 20 cylinder head bolts for Mitsubishi vehicles fitted with the 4M40 2.8 diesel / turbo diesel 8-valve engine.

COMPLETE SET OF 20 BOLTS:

14 × main cylinder head bolts – approximately 105 mm

4 × longer main cylinder head bolts – approximately 125 mm

2 × smaller cylinder head bolts – approximately 90 mm

CYLINDER HEAD BOLT TIGHTENING PROCEDURE:

Lubricate the threads and seating surfaces of the main cylinder head bolts with clean engine oil before tightening.

18 MAIN M12 CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS:

1. Tighten in the specified sequence to 100 Nm.

2. Loosen the bolts completely in the reverse sequence.

3. Retighten in the specified sequence to 50 Nm.

4. Tighten each bolt a further 90° in the specified sequence.

5. Tighten each bolt a further 90° in the specified sequence.

2 SMALLER M8 CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS:

Tighten bolts 19 and 20 to 24 Nm.

IMPORTANT:

The main cylinder head bolts use an angle-tightening procedure. Do not simply tighten them to a final torque figure.

Always follow the correct cylinder head bolt tightening sequence when installing the cylinder head.

Suitable for cylinder head replacement, head gasket replacement and engine rebuild work.
